While many have made the claim of being a 'road-legal race car', very few come close to the level of technological transfer achieved by Ford when creating the new GT. Developed with the objective of again winning the famed 24 hours of Le Mans, the GT was created by a small, but carefully selected team of engineers in total secrecy. Unhindered by committees with a clear goal in mind, this team would deliver a highly advanced carbon fiber monocoque chassis featuring advanced aerodynamics which played a crucial role in Ford achieving their competitive objective. Before the road-going GT had even entered production, two Chip Ganassi Racing models would finish First and Third in LM GTE Pro class at Le Mans, exactly fifty years after the original GT40 first won on the fabled circuit.
Completing this monumental achievement, extreme interest began to show resulting in the launch of the GT's infamous application process. Interested parties were required to provide a taped interview and series of application questions which would reportedly receive nearly 6,500 applicants. Despite the massive number of applications, only 1,350 lucky customers were contacted by the Ford Concierge Service to begin the process of speccing out their new vehicle. Much different from your typical online configurator, those who were accepted received a Carbon Fiber display box containing many of the possible option combinations, an incredibly personalized touch which remains with this vehicle.
Weighing just over 3,000 pounds, the lightweight carbon fiber monocoque is paired with a carefully selected 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine delivering 660-horsepower. This is a result of the upgraded gallery-cooled engine pistons and higher-energy ignition coils fitted to all 2020 and newer Ford GT's along with updated rear buttress air ducts which increase airflow by over 50 percent to aid in cooling. Along with a larger intercooler, these improvements also include a now standard titanium Akrapovič exhaust which not only provides a nine-pound weight saving but also emits a truly intoxicating sound. Paired with a quick-shifting Getrag seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the Ford GT is capable of 0-60 miles per hour in just 3 seconds on it's way to a top speed of 216 miles per hour.
Sculpted in the wind tunnel with exterior design optimized for aerodynamics, the Ford GT features active aerodynamics including speed-activated splitter and keel deployable rear wing with airbrake. Fully configurable, electronic active damping works directly with the five different drive modes to tailor the driving characteristics to match conditions on road or race track while push button activated front-lift is equipped to increase front ride height - and daily usability. Thanks to carbon ceramic brakes from Brembo working with active aerodynamics, the GT is able to come to a complete stop from 70 miles per hour in just 145 feet.
Delivered new to Grapevine Ford, this 2021 Ford GT is finished in a beautiful Extended Color Palette 3 Shell Grey exterior which was originally an Aston Martin color from the 1950s. This stunning color, a $40,000 option, is complemented by extensive carbon fiber with the optional Carbon Series graphics pack and 20-inch gloss exposed carbon fiber wheels. Sparco bucket seats finished in black Alcantara are mounted directly to the chassis eliminating the need for seat rails. Instead the F1-inspired Alcantara steering wheel and pedal box are both movable. One of the most talked about and collectable Supercars of the 21st century, this Ford GT is offered in excellent condition from its original owner with just 671 miles at the time of cataloging.
